We use Nova Scotia Department of Education Curricula, enhanced with Inquiry-Based Themed Learning to exceed curriculum outcomes.  Our Pre-Kindergarten utilizes a combination of grade primary, play-based models, and other pre-school curricula from around the world.

Curriculum is delivered using an Inquiry-Based Themed style, focused on meeting the needs, abilities, interests, and learning styles of each child. We build success through recognizing children’s strengths, celebrating differences, and fostering a respect to work together.

Class sizes are small to enable a low student-teacher ratio and allow for a student-centered learning experience.  Each class will have at most 15 students, but average around 10.  Each class will also remain multigrade, enabling and strengthening a wide range of learning opportunities, including increased learning and reduced bullying.

Each student participates in daily physical, arts, and life skills education. Language and Math are taught both interconnected with other subjects, and on their own, to develop and strengthen personal strategies and skills.  Math is focused on real-life application, building strong critical thinking and comprehension skills.  This enables purpose and meaning to help motivate math learning and builds manageable strategies to solve math problems with ease and success. This means skills development, group work, individual work, one-on-one coaching, hands-on manipulatives, online resources, quizzes, tests, and everything in between.
Reading and writing are treated both as an art form and as a form of communication; therefore both creative and conventional styles of reading and writing are taught and encouraged, at every grade.  This means spelling, cursive, grammar, whole language and phonics, as well as invented spelling, poetry, free writing, etymology, and non-leveled books - the whole of it is welcomed in order to reach to every child’s learning style.
