Via Vita Academy places a high value on the presence of parents, family, and friends throughout a child’s education experience. It is a key component in supporting a stable foundation in learning. With families involved and aware of the learning process, the student feels a strong support system in which everyone can work together. It brings meaning and connection to school, home, and life as the student grows. It helps develop a strong sense of confidence as they grow, feeling supported when they take risks to learn new things, apply themselves, and feel that glorious sense of pride when they’ve accomplished something through hard work and dedication. A strong, connected support system motivates students to learn who they are, who they want to be, and feel confident to become that person.
As part of the teaching philosophies at Via Vita Academy, we maintain continuous feedback and communication between home and school to remain proactive in working together to handle any challenges in student learning. To ensure we are always on the same page and that tone and emotion are not lost in communicating with parents, we often make phone calls or prefer chatting with you in person. You will often find we enjoy chatting with every parent at the start and end of every school day, regardless of grade/age of the student. We only use email to communicate specific information, dates, and times.
Student achievement and academic progress are monitored through 3 term teaching reports, student work showcases, and many, MANY, informal parent meetings upon drop off, pick up, emails, and events. Students receive feedback, both verbally, informally and formally, on assignments, tests, projects, in-class participation, attentiveness, behaviour, both in class and within the school as a whole, often throughout each term, to ensure student progress and success.
