Little Buddies is a unique, intergenerational parent-and-child program designed for children aged 18 months to 4 years. Our one-of-a-kindLittle Buddies Program supports the personal growth of both your little one, yourself and young students!
Each session features exploratory play and interactive story time for your little one that encourages curiosity and compassion in a caring, safe community. Furthermore, a small group of young VVA students volunteer as a Buddy each week - helping to lead activities and create engaging experiences for your young one. This near-peer mentorship approach creates a warm, welcoming environment where little ones can develop pro-social skills. What's more - parents can connect with fellow parents in a supportive community space and young volunteers gain valuable leadership and mentoring experience. Little Buddies is the perfect introduction to learning through curiosity, compassion and community!

Additional Details: Behaviour Management We believe children grow and learn through exploration and activity. We will encourage children to play, interact, engage, socialize, take risks, ask questions, apply techniques, and learn hands-on. We will encourage working together to build ideas, relationships, and solve problems. We will guide and assist children to feel competent in their abilities, learn through challenges, overcome obstacles, participate and support each other. We encourage children to express their ideas and feelings, and also help guide their behaviour through our acceptable child guidance principles:
Redirection
Logical and Natural Consequences
Limit Setting
Modeling
Providing Choices
Anticipating Trouble
Gentle Ignoring
Reflection Time
Positive Reinforcement
Via Vita Values To help guide our participants in acceptable behaviour for life, we strive to teach to and embody the following values:
Respect: Treat yourself, others, and your environment with care and respect Optimism:Be confident, resilient, and optimistic, always hoping for the best Honesty: Be truthful, honest and sincere in what you say Compassion: Show care, understanding, and compassion towards the feelings of others Commitment:Be dedicated to do your best
What to leave home: Though parents are allowed these items on their person, we prefer for children to not have with them or to use any technology devices, including cell phones, gaming systems, tablets, smart watches, etc, during the session.
Structured Environment Our program is designed to provide a fun and engaging experience for children. The activities and structure of the program are intended for children who have or are beginning to socialize with other children. While we strive to create an inclusive space, we understand that every child is unique. If you have any questions or concerns about whether our program might be the best fit for your child, we encourage you to contact us.
Outdoor Time Outdoor play and exploration are an integral part of many of our programs. Children and parents can expect to spend time outside during certain themed weeks. We actively monitor weather conditions and will use indoor spaces as needed to provide relief from heat, rain, or other weather events. However, whenever conditions are safe, we prioritise outdoor experiences. Families are asked to ensure children come with proper footwear suitable for outdoor play and a labelled water bottle to support hydration throughout the session.
Our Staff Our Team include experienced and trained VVA Childcare Leaders and mentored youth, managed by VVA Program Managers, Teachers and VVA's Owner. Our Leaders have completed extensive training in working with children and families, as well as Emergency First Aid & CPR.
Our Space Our program space includes play areas both inside and outside. Inside, we have a gymnasium with attached kitchen and classrooms, lobby/cubby area for backpack storage, washrooms and fountain. Outside, we have a backyard with play structures, field, gardens, apple trees, and meadows, our curated and ever expanding outdoor forest ‘classroom’, and our large secure and safe paved area for balls, chalk, etc.
VVA Difference We are a small, local, woman-owned organization and believe in working together, building a safe, nurturing and strong community for our participants. Our values are communication, dedication and transparency. We uphold these values in all of our programs. For all participants, we will work closely and get to know each participant and their family, to ensure you are confident and comfortable with the care provided. VVA’s vision is a culture empowered by community, compassion and wonder. We strive to bring the joy of connectedness, kindness and learning into all that we do. Please reach out if you ever have any questions.
