At Via Vita Academy, we combine the Nova Scotia Department of Education curriculum with leading educational philosophies from around the world to create a learning experience that reaches far beyond traditional benchmarks. Through inquiry- and project-based learning, we uphold high academic standards while nurturing social-emotional growth, resilience, and self-awareness.
Our holistic approach integrates academics with wellness, creative arts, cultural exploration, daily physical activity, and practical life skills. Students learn to take ownership of their growth, develop perseverance, resolve conflicts with empathy, and build healthy, meaningful relationships—discovering joy and confidence in learning every day.
Via Vita Academy has two main themes in the school year, one for each term. Within the yearly curriculum plans, our teachers explore all outcomes within the Nova Scotia Department of Education Curriculum and ensure each student is engaged in material specific to their grade-level information. By using an inquiry-based approach, students often exceed these outcomes through their own abilities to inquire, problem solve, collaborate and go deeper than the curriculum outlines. Students cover a wide range of subjects throughout the year, deeply engaging in learning material. By implementing a Themed foundation, it emphasizes the process of inquiry and making meaningful connections.
