Important Details About Our Summer Camp Program:
Structured Environment: Our day camp is designed to provide a fun and engaging experience for children. The activities and structure of the camp are intended for children who can comfortably engage with peers, follow group instructions, and participate in social and physical activities. It is best suited for children who are emotionally ready to handle a high-energy, structured environment where participation is part of the fun. While we strive to create an inclusive space, we understand that every child is unique. If you have any questions or concerns about whether our camp might be the best fit for your child, we encourage you to contact us prior to registration.

Outdoor Time: Outdoor play and exploration are an integral part of our day camp program. Campers can expect to spend significant time outside each day engaging in age-appropriate activities. We actively monitor weather conditions and will use indoor spaces as needed to provide relief from heat, rain, or other weather events. However, whenever conditions are safe, we prioritize outdoor experiences. Families are asked to ensure campers arrive daily with proper footwear suitable for outdoor play and a labeled water bottle to support hydration throughout the day. (Sunscreen is provided, however you are also welcome to provide your own)

Water Play: Water games are a regular and much-loved part of our camp experience and often take place in our backyard play area. Campers should come prepared each day with a towel and a comfortable swimsuit. A labeled change of clothes is strongly recommended to ensure campers remain comfortable after water activities.

Off-Set Adventures: Outings are planned in a safe, supervised, and inclusive manner and may include visits to local playgrounds, hiking trails, and the neighborhood splash pad park. Parents and caregivers will be notified weekly of any planned outings so families can stay informed and ensure campers are prepared to fully enjoy each adventure.

Chores: Our children's programming include small, hands-on "chores" as part of our commitment to helping children develop important life skills. These activities are designed to foster teamwork and cooperation among participants, establish a respect for personal and shared spaces, as well as the environment, provide mentorship opportunities where older children and youth can guide and support younger participants, and equip children with tangible, real-world skills that will benefit them both now and in the future. Please note that these activities are intended to be educational, fun, and collaborative, and are integrated as a small window of time during each day.

Additional Details:

Our camp staff include experienced and trained VVA Camp Leaders, as well as mentored LEAD and LIT trained youth, managed by VVA Program Managers, Teachers and Owner. Our Camp Leaders have completed both LIT and LEAD training, as well as detailed camp staff training and Emergency First Aid & CPR. Some of our Camp Leaders have even attended VVA when they were younger, which provides them with additional experiences and training to work with children and as a team.

Our program space includes play areas both inside and outside. Inside, we have a gymnasium with attached kitchen and classrooms, lobby/cubby area for backpack storage, washrooms and fountain. Outside, we have a backyard with play structures, field, gardens, apple trees, and meadows, our curated and ever expanding outdoor forest ‘classroom’, and our large secure and safe paved area for balls, scooters, chalk, etc.

We are a small, local, woman-owned organization and believe in working together, building a safe, nurturing and strong community for our participants. Our values are communication, dedication and transparency. We uphold these values in all of our programs. For all Camp participants, we will work closely and get to know each participant and their family, to ensure you are confident and comfortable with the care provided.

VVA’s vision is a culture empowered by community, compassion and wonder. We strive to bring the joy of connectedness, kindness and learning into all that we do. Join VVA’s Summer Camp - you’ll be happy you did!
